Artificial intelligence (AI) is a fascinating advance in technology. The spectrum of companies now offering artificial intelligence devices and solutions is incredible and it is ever-growing. Walk into any industry conference or event today and you will see walls of displays propounding the benefits of AI and Machine Learning; it is becoming the new standard for all tools and solutions.

What is the difference between Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning?

Machine Learning allows computers to understand and process massive amounts of data. This data is used to create algorithms which learn from and make predictions based on that data set. Machine Learning allows computers recognise patterns in enormous datasets and act on them. Some everyday examples of machine learning in practice include your email spam filter and the algorithms Netflix users to make user-specific recommendations.

AI, on the other hand, is all about mirroring human decision-making processes and performing complex tasks in a more human-like way. AI is an umbrella term under which Machine Learning falls and encompasses a much broader set of objectives and possible outcomes. AI is about simulating human intelligence processes in machines including learning, reasoning, and self-correction. Everyday examples of AI include navigation apps such as Google or Apple maps, and Smart home devices such as intelligent thermostats.

In security, AI and machine learning are starting to play a huge role, coming together to study normal behaviour and establish a baseline; they can then pick up deviations from the norm by applying algorithmic knowledge to a data set.

The rate and complexity of cyber-attacks is constantly on the increase and attacks pose a major threat to most businesses/

With the help of the IBM QRadar Security Intelligence Platform, Ward detect and respond to threats our clients face, initiate an incident response plan immediately and work to remediate the threat. This next generation solution integrates disparate functions – including SIEM, Risk Management, Log Management, Network Behaviour Analytics, and Security Event Management – into a total, security intelligence solution, making it the most intelligent, integrated, and automated security intelligence solution available.

Simply deploying traditional prevention technologies is no longer enough, IT security teams must add sophisticated, malicious activity-detection technology as well, but with security teams under pressure to deliver across a range of functions, only an integrated and automated security intelligence solution which can intelligently handle the ever-increasing volume of events can support teams to ensure timely visibility into what is happening on their networks.
