Following the same methodology as our security assessments, Ward Solutions Perimeter Security Assessments considers the threat surface area exposed at a network security perimeter.

The network security perimeters may be your organization connection to the Internet, a specific point on your network, or any other 3rd party WAN, WLAN, or Dial-up/RAS connection into your network.

The attack surface area includes all devices which are exposed to the perimeter from both a technical and non-technical perspective. This generally includes routers, firewalls, Intrusion Detection or prevention systems (IPS/IDS), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), host services and applications.

Traditional attacks on a security perimeter focused on the network, and host based issues. The attack surface has however since moved into the Application and more specifically Web Applications. The Perimeter Security Assessment encorporates all applications exposed at the perimeter.
